We'll Miss You Nancy

Nancy leaving the band and us here at Studio Sarah Records marks what I believe will be a new beginning for all of us. July 7th will mark one year from when New York State certified Studio Sarah Records as an LLC and I consider that an impressive milestone.

Nancy has been working with me from the beginning.

I first asked Nancy to come with me to the recording studio to take photos and videos to document the recording of "Gardening from the Ground Up Part 1." She had been a friend to me since we worked together as ushers at an off broadway theater. I knew photos of the recording process would carry deep meaning for me throughout my life and be useful to display here on my website.

I didn't know if it would be strange having someone in the studio taking photos of my producer and I, but Nancy was a natural. After her first day, my producer told me how impressed he was with how naturally she fit in with us.

As the recording process continued, Nancy became an important sounding board for the final decisions that needed to be made on the album. I will never forget us hailing a cab on a bustling Houston Street and speeding to Brooklyn so that my producer could make an important change before the last Fedex pickup of the day.

Nancy will be missed, but we will be celebrating this successful year as this important anniversary approaches.

Goodbye

As some of you already know, Rockwood Music Hall was my last performance with the band and today I walked into the office for the last time as a Studio Sarah Records employee. This fall I am leaving New York City to embark on a new journey, graduate school.

When Sarah asked me to write this blog, I didn’t realize how difficult saying goodbye would be. How do I express all my gratitude, sadness and excitement in such a small space?

I’m grateful to have worked at this wonderful company and to have been a part of something truly special and innovative. I’m sad to leave a place with people that have helped me mature and grow, a place filled with interesting and new challenges every day. Sarah was right when she told me, “We’re more like a family here.”

Not only do I have a family at Studio Sarah Records, but with the band too. Performing with Sarah, Kenji and Caleigh allowed me to rediscover my musical passion and I don’t think I can ever repay them for being as patient and encouraging as they were. I know I’ll be at future shows and cannot wait to hear new songs and new interpretations of the old ones!

Leaving both families is difficult but I’m excited for the days to come, and know that my time here with Sarah at Studio Sarah Records has only prepared me and given me the strength I need for the journey ahead.

Thank you blog readers. Thank you Studio Sarah Records. Most of all, thank you Sarah.

The Band

You love Sarah Elizabeth Foster. Don't deny it. You're here on her website, reading up about her latest musical adventures and dying for more info, right? Good, that's the way it should be. If you want the inside scoop, you've got to get to know the people closest to her ... her band. You've always wondered about them, haven't you? Well, wonder no more!

Get to know Kenji, Caleigh and myself by checking out our band member pages here. Find out if you're from the same hometown, if you attended the same university or if you share a similar love for sandwiches!

Have a specific question about a band member? Great! Leave a comment below and I'll do my best to get your question answered.

Women's History Month Recap and a New Blog Direction

Thank you to all the women that have written for us this March, the blogs have been FANTASTIC!  When Nancy and I were first brainstorming about the Women’s History Month blog idea, I kept saying, “If we really kill ourselves, maybe we can get enough people together to do a new blog each day,” then immediately I would say, “Well, hang on, maybe we can try to fill up the Mondays, then the Tuesdays, and so on until we have at least the weekdays?”

I was a little nervous to commit to having a different woman blog every day because I know just how hard blogging is, and I know just how hard coordinating 31 people would be, let alone finding 31 women that would be interested.

But, as we started contacting friends and telling them about the idea, almost all of them got on board after a moment of initial hesitation, and as they grew more confident in their topic idea, they even began telling us about an amazing friend of theirs who would also be perfect for the project.  It turned into a wonderful web of women, a group of friends and friends of friends, some of whom I had never even met!

I’m a lover of technology and blogging.  I love the way it provides a public voice for the regular person, the non-journalist.  I’ve had a great time blogging since August 2007 and to see so many women blogging for the first time makes me very proud.  I couldn’t be more proud of my site and what it has become.

Because of the success of this blog project, and because of my faith in the future of www.HealthandHappinessClub.com, I’ve got some breaking news...

I’ve decided that www.SarahElizabethFoster.com will hone its blog focus to become purely music specific.  My music is progressing so quickly that I think for the first time I have an abundance of music blog topics.  My blogs on lifestyle, the environment, health, fitness, and things of this nature will now be reserved for Health and Happiness Club.

So thanks to all our guest bloggers, and a REALLY BIG THANK YOU TO NANCY, who works here at Studio Sarah Records.  She did the bulk of the blogger coordinating, blog editing, photo uploading, tagging and deadline setting!  Great job Nancy!!!  (I don't have any idea how she had time to do her other work!)

And, last but not least, thank you to our readers for supporting this ambitious project.  We LOVED your comments!

I hope we created some women’s history in our own way!
